A few months ago, a friend and I were walking in the park. In an (uncharacteristic) display of vulnerability, I told her: “Sometimes I think I’m really cool to be married to, but sometimes, I am really uncool.”
As I said it, a couple of older women – probably in their 80s – walked past, on an evening constitutional. They overheard me and laughed. One said: “That’s true for all of us.”
Which made me laugh. I guess, even in your 80s, it doesn’t get any easier.
